Varicose and spider veins look unsightly and can also cause pain, swelling, itching, brown discoloration and other issues. Sclerotherapy, or injections of a chemical to make the veins shrink, has been around since the 1950’s. Perfections in technique and the chemicals used have made this a very safe procedure.
Here Dr. Van Reken demonstrates treatment with injections of polidocanol into leg veins which are unsightly and have caused this patient some pain as well. By injecting polidocanol foam into veins that feed smaller vein complexes one sees them fill with foam on the video. These now treated veins shrink down and become smaller over the next few months, producing both sexier legs and reducing pain or swelling from varicose veins. This is a high satisfaction procedure with minimal pain. The average patient will require about 3 treatment sessions for a good result.
